Wine Pleasures has announced the winners of its first competition for still white wines of the world.
Well known by the trade for the competition 50 Great Sparkling Wines of the World and 50 Great Cavas, Wine Pleasures listened to wine importers and distributors from around the world and went ahead with the very first edition of 50 Great White Wines of the World 2021.
Gold and Silver medal winners amongst the 50 Greats went to diverse terroirs in countries such as Australia, Croatia, France, Hungary, Portugal, Serbia, and Spain.
Best in their categories were as follows:
Still –dry (<5 g/l) No Oak: Maeques de Marialva – Colheita Seleccionada 2020 by Adegga Cooperativa de Cantanhede, Barraida, Portugal
Still –dry (<5 g/l) < 3 mths Oak: BeliM by Probus Vineyards, Srem, Serbia
Still –dry (<5 g/l) 3 – 6 mths Oak: Bertrando by Antonutti Vini, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy
Still –dry (<5 g/l) > 6 mths Oak: Mad One 2018 by Mad Wine, Tokaj, Hungary
Med – dry: Muskat Zuti by Kuca Vina Ivan Katunar, Croatia Coast, Croatia
Sweet: La Coulee D’Or 2018 by Domaine Bourillon-Dorleans, Loire Valley, France
