The Event
Wine Pleasures Workshops have been successfully taking place over the last 6 years and for 2011 te Workshop will include wineries from Portugal and Spain. New for 2011 will be the incorporation of wineries from the French Languedoc-Rousillon region, Sud de France.
At the workshop, Hosted Buyers hold pre -scheduled business meetings and tastings with Iberian wineries of potential interest. These meetings have the dual objectives of discovering and selecting new limited production boutique wines and of cultivating new professional relationships.
Both Hosted Buyers and cellers are carefully selected by Wine Pleasures in order to ensure that both parties will find what they are looking for.
The Wine Pleasures Workshop Buyer meets Iberian Cellar will give buyers the opportunity to discover new wine suppliers not normally present in the large trade fairs, meet the winemaker in a highly personalised setting, taste the latest vintages, discuss imports, prices and timescales, discover new products and attractive labelling and packaging, and appreciate the excellence in quality – price. All this in a cost-effective, one stop opportunity to do so by meeting face to face in Spain with a wide range of quality wine makers concentrated in one convenient and enchanting venue for just two and a half days.
The Venue
The Wine Pleasures Workshop: Buyer meets Iberian Cellar 2010 will take place in the Hotel Barceló Montserrat close to Barcelona. This hotel affords a perfect setting for the Wine Pleasures Workshop event with excellent views of the serrated mountain of Montserrat.

How the the Appointment System Works
Each participating winery will have exclusive use of a meeting table where the scheduled appointments with buyers take place. The tried and tested appointment system offers buyers direct and total control over the types of wineries – type of wine, price range and designation of origen – they arrange to meet during the two days:
1) Leading up to the workshop
Hosted Buyers are supplied with details and profiles of participating wineries. This gives the buyer ample time to correspond with the winery directly and to evaluate if the wines would be of potential interest to the buyer’s target market. Buyers should pre-schedule a minimum of 12 appointments prior to the workshop taking place.
2) During the workshop
On both mornings of the event, additional appointments may be scheduled through personal contacts between buyers and wineries.
Further contacts between buyers and wineries are also possible during lunch and breaks as well as in the evening.
Important: buyers registering an accompanying person from the same organization are able to schedule parallel appointments simultaneously throughout the event, thereby doubling the effectiveness of their participation.
Registration
The only cost to you is the Registration fee of 65 Euros which is payable when your application is accepted.
Buyer comments (Spain 2005 – 2010)
The following Hosted Buyers attended the Workshop Buyer meets Spanish Celler in 2009 and their opinions are reflected in each video:

C & J Fine Wines (UK)
Herbert Samuel Restaurant (Israel)
Vuoden Vinit Kilpailu (Finland)
Vinos y Tapas (Germany)
Here are some more views on the Workshop method as a way of making wine purchase decisions:
“This kind of “fair” is more focused, less stands and more personally. The prebooked meetings of 45 minutes gives a good structure and the possibility to choose them myself and even opportunity to do spontaneous meetings. The 2-3 day “tasting” gives opportunity to come back to the persons you want to continue discussions with. A very good overview of the Spanish wine regions, interesting to compare same grape from different regions” Arvid Nordquist, Sweden
“Workshops for our medium size structure are the ideal buying conditions for us” Overland Trade, France
“I prefer the workshop method because it’s more informative and personal (e.g. the wine seminar at the first evening, especially for people who don’t have experiences with Spanish wines. The workshop method very good, one felt nearly in a “familiar” atmosphere, one had the chance to speak with a lot of people during the meals in a very relaxed atmosphere” CS-ENO, Germany
“I think you have time for tasting and speaking with the Bodegas; it´s more personally. It is better than a normal trade fair!” Bodega Andaluza, Germany
“I never experienced such a personal and efficient possibility to get to know that many wineries in such a short period of time”. Fine Spirits, Switzerland
“I have been most pleased to be part of this event. It has reached my expectations and now it is time to follow up to grab the orders”. Global Trade Search, USA
“The highlight for me was that there were local rather small wineries that normally couldn’t afford a big fair like VinExpo”. Cissus Holgros, Denmark
“Just to let you know that on a business point of view, your event was very to PVI.I have found new suppliers and discovered interesting wines and wineries. This should bring for us and for some wineries some good business within the next month” Planete Vins International, France
“Nice event from where you can get exactly information you would need and meet the people you exactly looking for. Professional and nice atmosphere and good place to meet connosieurs from different countries”. AS Valior, Estonia
“Der katalonische Workshop war gelungen! Neben der excellenten Organisation und dem angehmen Ambiente waren die teilnehmenden Bodegas meist “echte” Entdeckungen. Ich hoffe nur, dass in Zukunnft meine Landsleute das Angebot von Wine Pleasures mehr nutzen werden”. Herzlichen Dank! Manfred Wine Pool, Germany
“I very much liked the limited number of producers at the wine pleasures workshop. I would like to have a choice of potentially meeting with five or six producers from each of the wine appelations and regions from around Spain. The Alimentary in Barcelona, VinExpo Bordeaux, VinItaly are too big and too overwhelming.” Borvin Beverage, USA
