The Santa Catalina del Mañan winery was founded in 1962, in the vine growing and wine production area of Medio Vinalopó, in Alicante.
Over the years the winery has evolved considerably both from the point of view of production and of technology and these improvements have been reflected in the increasingly higher quality of the wines. In the present day it covers an area of 1,400 hectares with an annual production of 4,000,000 kilos of grapes.
The area where the winery itself is located enjoys a dry Mediterranean climate with long hours of warm sunshine ideally suited to the cultivation of the vine, and which results in excellent quality wines.
The experience gathered over the years combined with the entrepreneurial character of its partners, has enabled the “Santa Catalina del Mañan” winery to conserve traditional manufacturing techniques while at the same time allowing the introduction of new maceration systems. The plant with reduced capacity deposits allows for improved control and monitoring of the best wines produced from each harvest.
The Monastrell, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot grape varieties are matured and produced traditionally by the “Santa Catalina del Mañan” winery. These varieties have now become well-known thanks to the sale of their bottled wines that are increasingly demanded by consumers.
In the present day, the Santa Catalina winery bottles over 30% of its production and expects to increase this on a yearly basis.
